Hotel Le Grand Chalet Favre is situated in the heart of the picturesque and largely car free village of St-Luc, at 1,650 metres altitude. The sun-bleached chalet, owned by Anne-Françoise and Claude Buchs-Favre, is furnished in idyllic Alpine style. The restaurant serves traditional Swiss fare, with a fire crackling in the fireplace.
Picture yourself lying in the deckchair of your private sunny balcony soaking up the mountain scenery, with views of the majestic Matterhorn, at more than 4,000 metres. The restaurant’s sunny terrace has some of the best alpine views in the Val d’Anniviers, both in winter and summer.
A stone’s throw from the hotel is the funicular rail to Tignousa, at more than 2,200 metres an ideal starting point for a wonderful day in the mountains.
Lunch and dinner in Hotel Le Grand Favre’s restaurant is an experience in itself. The traditional Swiss dishes such as raclette made with regional cheese, the tasteful furnishings with an eye for detail (the rustic wooden chairs are carved with local families’ coat-of-arms) and obviously the breathtaking scenery.
Opened daily from 08.00h until 23.00h.
In low season the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.
The restaurant’s terrace is truly delightful. All year round it is a wonderful place to enjoy the crystal clear mountain air and the stunning views.
From the quaint village of Saint-Luc with its picturesque chalets you are only a step away from the surrounding Alps. The cable car is only about 300 metres from the hotel. During the summer months it is a hikers’ paradise with an abundance of walking trails. Winter sports enthusiasts of all levels praise the quality of the pistes (more than 75 kilometres) in the area. The Bella Tola mountain top offers wonderful 360 degree views over the Alps, including the Matterhorn, Weisshorn and even the Mont Blanc. The François-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory is well worth a visit to watch the stars and planets.
