On Monday 8 May 2017 the QL Annual Gathering took place in and around QL Romantik hotel Le Val d’Amblève (Stavelot, Belgium) and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Francorchamps, Belgium). The guests were welcomed by Hein van Beek, founder Hotels & Restaurants, and the charming moderator of the day Simone van Trier in Hotel de la Source which is just located next to the circuit.
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with its legendary track, a little more than 7 km, the longest in the world championship, well deserves its official status of "the most beautiful circuit in the world". This global label for the Spa loop is rarely disputed and must be due to its undulating profile, to its quick turns, with its famous and unique Raidillon, of course, but also to a natural and majestic setting, in the middle of forests of fir trees in which the noise of the engines resonate.
During a guided tour the guests were able to go behind the scenes to explore the key points of the circuit such as the paddocks, the press room, the commentators' booths and the place which is normally of-limits: the Race Control room, the nerve centre of the circuit.
In the afternoon Michael Prinz zu Salm-Salm gave an inspiring lecture about sustainability at Weingut Prinz Salm. His wine-growing estate is Germany’s oldest family-owned wine estate (32 generations) and dates back to the year 1200. As Weingut Prinz Salm is one of the first organic wine-growing estate the Salm family knows that providing a sustainable environment, the quality of the wines and vineyard will be secured for the following generation.
The family Roxs and the team of Hotel Le Val d'Ambleve did an excellent job making the QL Annual Gathering 2017 an enormous succes. Chef Ruud Roxs went out of his way to create a gastronomic dinner. Thanks to DJ Hans Stroeve the afterparty went into the small hours of the morning.
