De Zon Hotel & Restaurant dates from 1893. De Zon has a modern and contemporary feel and is situated on the river Vecht in Overijssel. An amazing collection of paintings from Henk Helmantel grace the walls. Paintings by other contemporary artists can be found as well, including Jan te Wierik and Astrid Engels.
Most rooms have views over the river Vecht and feature a whirlpool in the bathrooms. Enjoy a nice glass of wine or aperitif in Uncle Henry’s friendly Pub or in the modern lounge near the open fire.
Chef Nick van Swaal and his brigade like to use seasonal, regionally produced ingredients, making them a perfect match with what De Zon has become famous for: serving speciality products from the Vecht valley.
The terrace, and ‘beach club’ Sun Beach Ommen at the water’s edge, offer beautiful river views, including a classic Dutch windmill. De Zon has its own longboat lounge, available for lunch or drinks. Affiliate hotel Paping has a swimming pool and the extensive Ommen Sauna & Beauty spa.
The cuisine is French and uses preferably regional products. The hotel has a traditional English Pub, the "Uncle Henry’s".
The restaurant is open daily.
The hotel has a stylish terrace paved with black Belgian cutstone floortiles. A superb Italian coffee machine adornes the bar. The huge parasols are equipped with terrace heaters for the colder summer nights. The terrace, one of the nicest in the country, offers a lovely view over the river Vecht.
WLAN-aerial and access card available at the reception desk. Wine tasting for groups available on request. The nearby Paping Hotel has a swimming pool and a beauty parlour. Also nearby you will find bicycles and boats for hire. Picnic baskets on request.
The hotel’s surroundings are varied. The river valley of the Overijsselse Vecht is well suited for long walks or bicycle trips. The Ommen region has a number of castles and country estates. Golf course Hooge Graven nearby.
