Château St. Gerlach is a grand stately manor, beautifully located in the Geul Valley just outside Valkenburg. The classically furnished rooms and suites are in the former farmstead. The hotel apartments overlooking the Geul Valley, are in what was once the convent and granary, as are the Spa & Wellness facilities.
The château is the setting for Bistrot de Liège. In the former living quarters of the baron, the bistro serves dishes using ingredients that are locally sourced or harvested from the estate gardens and orchard. At the homely Manor Farm at the entrance to the estate, you are welcome for drinks or lunch.
On the estate guests can explore the expansive parkland, elegant Baroque gardens, kitchen garden, fruit tree arboretum, rose garden and vineyard. The St. Gerlach Pavilion & Manor Farm make an ideal venue for functions, and include a lunch restaurant and estate shop: Burgemeester Quicx, Coffee & More. Maastricht, with its wide choice of restaurants and shops, is just 10 minutes away.
Enjoy French bistro dishes with a contemporary twist or a plentiful high tea at Château St. Gerlach. Formerly the living quarters kitchen and dining room of Baron de Selys de Fanson, the restaurant’s homely and comforting interior matches the atmosphere fostered by the restaurant staff. Château St. Gerlach’s intimate bar is located in the Red Building (the hotel building). The bar is open from 7am – 1am.
While the rooms reveal memories of the past, the dishes served by senior chef Guido Le Bron de Vexela and his team are contemporary, and use ingredients sourced from the region and from the estate gardens. Honey from the Château’s own beehives is a key ingredient of the high tea. In fine weather you can take a seat on the Bistrot terrace for lunch, high tea or dinner.
For coffee with vlaai – a tart that is a regional speciality – or a simple lunch, you are welcome at Burgemeester Quicx, Coffee & More, open daily from 10am in the manor farm by the estate entrance.
Opening hours of Bistrot de Liège: Daily 12 - 4.30 pm and 5 - 9 pm
