Rich history

Castle Burg Schnellenberg towers impressively over the hanseatic city of Attendorn. It is surrounded by 240 hectares of woodland and meadow. The history of the castle dates to 1222. Nowadays it is one of the best maintained castles in Westphalia. The stylish hotel receives its guests with warm hospitality in fairy tale surroundings. The welcome is in accordance with the Latin proverb over the door ‘stranger, don’t stay outside, my door is open to the traveller’. The classically designed guest rooms have beautiful views.

The hotel boasts a spa and an adorable chapel where wedding ceremonies can be performed. Dine as the knights did in days of yore - under vaulted ceilings or in the romantic courtyard. The menu offers regional and international dishes. Enjoy nature in Sauerland with long walks or bicycle trips. Several museums and amusement parks in and around Attendorn are worth visiting. Why not enjoy water sports in the Biggesee, visit the amazing Atta-Höhle stalactite caves or visit the Orchids Farm.

Water sports on the Biggesee

The region boasts wonderful landscapes, such as the river Bigge meandering through the Attendorn Valley and ending in the Bigge Lake, but there is more. Attendorn has several interesting museums, a wildlife park and one of the largest cave systems in Germany of which the Atta-Höhle is most famous.
