Hotels that have preserved the authentic atmosphere of a historic inn or tavern are few and far between. You have to hunt for them, but they do still exist. An excellent contemporary inn needs an excellent contemporary innkeeper, and that is precisely what Landgasthof Linde has got. In good innkeeping tradition, Hannes Ebster is not only the owner, but also the chef, together with his brother Georg Ebster, and the life and soul of this welcoming Landgasthof, or country inn.
We all love Austria for its snowy Alpine slopes, of course, but Landgasthof Linde is just as nice in summer, with its magnificent garden – an immaculate lawn, charming summer house, and fruit trees for delicious home-made jams and apple strudels. It makes you want to just sit here all evening with a good glass of wine, enjoying the delicious dishes prepared in the Landgasthof Linde kitchen. Just a few steps from the hotel, you can admire the wonderful colours of the herb and vegetable garden.
GaultMillau named Landgasthof Linde its 2020 ‘Wirtshaus des Jahres’ (Tavern of the Year).
Chef Hannes Ebster’s cuisine is based on ingredients grown in Landgasthof Linde’s herb and vegetable garden. Dinner is served out in the garden in fine weather, or in the ancient vaulted cellar among the maturing wines, or in the homely Tyrolean Gaststuben. Gourmands and anyone who loves good food will feel completely at home here. The dishes on the menu are refined and closely related to traditional recipes from the region, and the wine list naturally includes an excellent selection of Austrian wines. Landgasthof Linde also has a wide range of its own products on sale, including jams made with fruit from the orchard. The home-made schnapps is also well worth trying – though it’s not for the fainthearted!
Wednesday to Sunday from 11.00am to 2.00pm and from 5.00 – 11.00pm
Closed Monday and Tuesday
The garden and terrace at Landgasthof Stumm are unrivalled. In what can best be described as an orchard garden, with an immaculate lawn, blooming hydrangeas, charming gazebo and blossoming fruit trees, weather permitting, it’s a delight to have breakfast, lunch or dinner outdoors. And do take a stroll to the Landgasthof Linde’s herb and vegetable garden, which is not only a feast for the eyes, but also an endless source of inspiration for chef Hannes Ebster.
If you’re looking for an excellent hotel for a skiing holiday in the Zillertal (Tyrol), Landgasthof Linde is less than two kilometres from the base station of the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal skiing area, with around 90 kilometres of slopes and 39 lifts. The Zillertal-Arena ski area (the largest in the Zillertal) is also within easy reach. And if you’d like to go even higher, don’t miss the ski area in the Glacier World of Tux and Finkenberg, where you can enjoy the snow from October to May.
In summer, a visit to the 380-metre Krimml Waterfalls – the highest in Europe – is highly recommended. This is a wonderfully inviting region to explore the natural beauty, whether on foot, by bike or on skis; the proximity to Stumm offers beautiful photo opportunities.
